Dear comrade :

We are deeply shocked by the horrific July 2 midnight attack on the Karradah district of Baghdad, which targeted civilians preparing to celebrate the feast of Eid-al-Fitr at the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. The terrorist bombings claimed by “Islamic State (Daesh)” were heinous acts of unparalleled proportions, with the horrendous suicide truck bombings killing around 300 innocent people and wounding over 200 others.

We condole with the families and loved ones of all those who were murdered in the terrorist bombings, including the 3 young cadres of your party --- Comrades Adel Qais al-Jaf, Hameed Majid Rashid and Faysal Mohammed Salman who were also martyred in that carnage. We also commiserate with the sufferings of all the wounded, including several members and supporters of your party, and sincerely wish them all speedy recovery.

Those terrorist bombings were apparently a demonstration of the remaining capacity of Daesh to strike at the Iraqi capital, despite its recent battlefield defeats. Just a week earlier, Daesh lost the strategic city of Fallujah, near Baghdad, that it occupied for over 2 years. Daesh has been pushed out of some other areas in Iraq, as well as in many areas in neighboring Syria. The bombings were also apparently meant to disrupt preparations by Iraqi government forces for the retaking of Mosul, the remaining center of Daesh control in Iraq.

With Daesh and its allies (al-Qaeda and Jebhat al-Nusra) in decline, we hope that the Iraqi government would enhance cooperation with the Syrian government to step up joint actions to destroy Daesh. We hope too that the Iraqi government would be wary of the USA, Turkey and the Gulf Cooperation Council which assist Daesh and its allies while professing opposition to terrorism. US imperialist actions will always correspond to its strategic plan of occupying and balkanizing Iraq and other Arab countries under the US-Israeli plan for a “New Middle East”.

We wish that all those responsible for terrorism in Iraq and its neighbors will soon be brought to justice and severely punished, and that the Iraqi people will soon triumph in their battle against Daesh and all terrorists.

                                                                                                                        Very sincerely,

                                                                                                                        ANTONIO  E.  PARIS
