Dear comrades :

We wish to express our strongest condemnation of the July 15 terrorist attack in Nice, which featured a savage jihadist driving a large truck to barrel through an enormous crowd of Bastille Day fireworks spectators along more than 2 kilometers of the famed seafront promenade of that resort city.

This attack, and particularly the savagery of its method –- which crushed at least 84 (including children), and wounded and injured almost a hundred (18 of them critically)  –- can only be considered as an exceptional example of brutal barbarism. The terrorist driver also fired on responding policemen and the horrified crowd before being shot dead.

The terrorist “Islamic State” took responsiblility for this extremist attack, as it did with the terrorist attack on Paris last November 13 which killed 130 people and wounded and injured almost a hundred others. Terrorism of whatever kind can never have any justification, and terrorism stemming from religious intolerance and a desire for a mediaeval “caliphate” is particularly abominable.

The struggle against international terrorism, represented by “Islamic State” and other groups which are covertly nurtured and supported by imperialism and their allies, is a prime duty of all peoples throughout the world. In this regard, we hope that French government support for the NATO terrorist war against the Syrian government –- which support nurtures the terrorists that now strike also at France –- would immediately be ended.

We hope too that the French government will bring to justice all those responsible for the terrorist attacks in your country, and neutralize all attempts to spread jihadist violence and anarchy in France.

Please extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families of those heinously murdered in this terrorist attack, and our sincere wishes for the speedy recovery of all those wounded and injured.

                                                                                                            Very sincerely,

                                                                                                            ANTONIO  E.  PARIS
